Hey there,
I was seen the day before Christmas eve for my mammogram and ultrasound as per the 2 week pathway.
They took several biopsies and I was taken into the nurse who saw me first who said has anyone spoken to you... I said no... and she instantly brought out the tissues and said I'm so sorry.
I asked what she was talking about and she basically said while she cannot 100% confirm until results of biopsies... it looks like cancer.
Both Mammogram and ultrasound code are showing as a 5 and they've seen over 5 lymph nodes which are enlarged and concerning as well as the dimpling and also lump.
I am desperate to find some support as I feel like I've been given a partial diagnosis but they won't say for sure....
I've since had bloods and mri and ct scan.
The wait is awful.
I know we are all different but keen to know others diagnosis from a lump, dimpling and also 5 nodes.... for at least some rough estimate of what could be.
I keep thinking I've imagined it all.
They’ve never told me, treatable and curable. But is suspect early stage 3 or late stage 2. I don’t think staging is officially done anymore.
Thank you. Grade 2. Stsge not been confirmed yet. My timeline was 5 dec mammogram recall and told 99% sure it’s bc and had biopsy. Then 19 dec results. 30 dec ct scan. Now waiting for ct results. 24 jan mastectomy. The waiting all over Xmas and for ct scan results is traumatic
Tulip22 Littlecaf I have been reading possibly a little too much on this forum and am really shocked at how common a mastectomy seems to be as the treatment..... I was aware of it as my nan had one the first time she had bc, but generally i am suprised at how frequent I'm reading that was people's choice of treatment.. I need more info and guess I'll just have to wait till my app but just wondering if anyone have any words of wisdom on this.....
My consultant told me that basically a masectomy or lumpectomy depends obviously on the type and size of cancer but also that larger breasted women can usually get away with a lumpectomy whereas smaller breasted women tend to have a mastectomy . Don't know if it's true or not. I have my appointment tomorrow so let's see what they recommend.
I needed a mastectomy as I had DCIS too- it looked like sprinkles on the MRI so a lumpectomy wasn’t possible even though the chemo and Phesgo shrunk the tumour completely. The doctors want to get rid of your cancer completely so if a mastectomy is the answer then that’s what is recommended
Gosh so they did chemo and then mastectomy... I'm glad to hear they've done what is best then. I do hope you are ok x how was the chemo if you don't mind me asking..
I suppose that makes total sense.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
I was referred to the breast clinic early October 2024 after noticing skin dimpling and feeling a small lump, on the day I was there I had mammogram, ultrasound and 4 biopsies. I was asked to wait after the biopsies to speak to the Doctor who told me that the scans looked suspicious and booked me another appointment for 10 days later when the cancer diagnosis was confirmed. The surgery was performed on 29th November, it was a mastectomy and axillary lymph node clearance as there were multiple small tumors and the lymph node biopsies were also positive for cancer. The post surgery report stated 88mm grade 2 IDC. Lymphovascular invasion 8/11 lymph nodes. I have clear margins so am currently cancer free and start chemotherapy on Wednesday. The waiting was awful but the experts need all the test results in order to give you the best possible treatment. Wishing you all the best xx
I really know how you feel I'm am really not good I am bit further down stage I had biopsies of breast and lymph nodes both positive, had lumpectomy and lymph node clearance 11th December and I felt so good sore but good that it was out. Still got treatment to do but I can deal what ever they throw at me but I need to know what I am dealing with!!!
Have you tried the mcmillian chat on here they are brill I can recommend them they just listen. Also start a journal it sounds silly but writing it down let's it out too
Hope everything goes well for you xxxx
Thank you so much for sharing.
Gosh what a lot you've been through. I think I'm in denial about this whole thing. Do you mind me asking how old you are?
Sending love for chemo starting tomorrow x
