Hi everyone,
It’s my first time on here and I am just wondering if anyone else had to have their surgery delayed?
I got diagnosed in October and was meant to have a lumpectomy early December. I went in for it but was too unwell with a chest infection. So I am assuming it will be January (I’m hoping). I have been started on Tamoxifen in the meantime.
I am really scared that by it being delayed it could spread somewhere else.
Hi Leanne13, a very warm welcome to the forum. It's very frustrating to have treatment delayed, but it's not uncommon and typically a few weeks doesn’t make a huge difference so I'd try not to worry about it. Whilst my surgery went to plan, my radiotherapy was delayed by about 4-6 weeks as I had a swelling that needed to reduce, so I think these things do just happen.
I hope you're feeling better now and that your chest infection has improved and whilst it will be difficult, I hope you can relax over the holidays. If you do need any extra support at any time, you can pop back in here and some of the lovely folks will be around to help, or you can call the MacMillan chat line on 0800 808 0000 if you need any advice or just to talk things through. Best wishes
Hi irishgirl16, thank you for replying.
I have been started on tamoxifen early so hopefully that will help stop any growth in the meantime.
It’s seems like everything just takes forever from diagnosis to treatment. The waiting is the worst.
