So I had a biopsy nearly 2 weeks ago and I’ve had a face to face appointment sent through today but it’s not for another month !!! My anxiety I’d already sky high. I’m trying to see the positive and that it’s all ok otherwise they’d see me sooner, but surely if it’s good news they could just call me or write to me. Has anyone else had to wait this long for their results ??
Hi Larry20 it is usual to get face to face appointments sent through to discuss in person the results.. At the point of 6 weeks since the biopsy that does seem like a long time. I would be tempted to contact the number on the letter and ask why this is so far away..it may be to do with the impending Xmas and new year holidays upcoming for the nhs but worth checking out..
Gail, thank you for your reply.
I was told that the appointment would be either telephone or face to face. Is it more than likely to be bad news as it’s a face to face appointment?
Surely if I’m able to call them to find out the reasons for the delay they’re able to tell me over the phone what the results are?
I really feel for you , I had biopsies, 2 weeks later I was told it’s breast cancer , I will get to know what the plan is after a ct scan . I was going out of my mind the beginning of the week. I’m sort of trying to accept that I have to wait and that’s it . Yes my mind is going overtime, but I can’t concentrate enough to keep busy . All I can say is you’re not alone x reach out to the care team you have x let us know how you get on x good luck
Hi, I appreciate the not knowing is really hard. Just wanted to say that all my appointments were face to face. I agree with Granny59 about giving the team a call. I always found it helpful to chat to the breast care nurses at my hospital when I had a concern. I also found talking to the Macmillan nurses really helpful and reassuring. I wish you all the best.
Hi Larry20
I had biopsies and given a date for the results meeting which was a week later, so it does seem like they're taking a long time to see you. All of my appointments were face-to-face but that was just the protocol for my breast centre.
I would give them a call if you're going out of your mind. Just be very prepared in case it is bad news as you would likely to have lots of questions and asking them over the phone is often more difficult.
Everything crossed for good news
Jo xx
I received my appointment exactly a week after my biopsy which is what I expected but I expected to be told my results sooner. Maybe the Xmas period is having some effect on how long it’s taking?
I will give the breast clinic a call and see if there is anything sooner or ask if they can give me my results over the phone
