Just been diagnosed and in a panic. Lump about 1 inch and can’t be felt. Ultrasound done under armpits and radiographer said nothing to see there. Week to wait for biopsy results. Please help SobSob

  • So Sorry to hear that and actually (Although no where near that )I have had big mental health challenges this year. Makes you wonder eh! was that the start of this? Anyway glad you have your furry friends and my boy Lincoln is my angel he actually found the lump for me! He is a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a big cuddle Bum. Wishing you all the very best

  • Just coming on here to send love. We have all been were you are. It’s the pits. Excellent advice about not googling. Just listen to your doctor. They are the real experts and know YOUR situation.
I remember driving to my first operation and actually feeling ok and my husband pointed out that that’s because that’s when the fight back started. He was right. Once you have a plan and you understand that they are treating you for CURE you’ll feel better.
I have lobular too. It didn’t show up in regular mammogram in January but I felt something in May. It also didn’t show up in mammogram in June only with an ultrasound. They are sneaky buggers. I had one node involved of 4 taken out - which also didn’t show up in scans. But that didn’t change my treatment. Lumpectomy, radiotherapy (x15) and 7 years AIs. I think lobular are usually estrogen positive - so you may have a similar treatment pathway. But obviously your doctors will tell you all that when they see you. Take care

  • Echoing what Happyfeet said.

I was diagnosed three weeks ago. The first 2 weeks were unbearable, as I waited for biopsy, CT, MRI and Pet scan results. It feels like so long ago already.

what I can say is that, as you move through this journey and get more information about your specific situation, it can get easier. I was in a dark place just one week ago and this week, as I await my consultation on Thursday to discuss my treatment plan, I feel much more empowered as I find out more about breast cancer.

i spent the first week googling far too much and, since giving that up a week ago, feel in a much better place to take this on.

i started listening to the audio book re-con-struction by Rosamund Dean and that has really helped guide me through these early stages of processing everything.

i have also found that talking to people i trust about my deepest fears has really helped. Let it all out. I hope you have some folk who can lend you an ear. And here seems to be a good platform for that if you don’t have family close.

  • Thank you so much U write this sitting waiting for my contrast MRI. I will look for that audiobook Thumbsup

  • Hi Window

Sorry to hear that you are feeling lost.  I've noticed that you haven't joined any forums yet so why not join this forum.  You just need to click on join.  Here's the link to the forum Breast cancer forum .  It would be helpful if you would give us a little bit of information about your diagnosis so that we can give you the help you need.

I suggest that you ring the helpline on 0808 808 0000 to talk to someone about how you are feeling.  If there is a Maggie's centre near you or another cancer centre you can always call in or give them a ring to talk to some.

Wishing you the best of luck with whatever comes next for you.

    Best wishses
