I had a mastectomy 6/4 and tissue expander inserted to prepare my body for a reconstruction.
The tissue expander was due to be removed Feb / March next year and I was still decided on which route to take (implant or back muscle)
Long story short (although I have been blogging about it if any one needs more info) my body is rejecting the tissue expander, it has just never settled and so today I was told it needs to be removed as soon as next week.
Reconstruction may still be possible using muscle and skin from my back, it might seem mad to change my mind but I have...
I do not want to risk another infection as my pain has just been too intense.
I live in Japan and apparently the prosthetics are not covered by health insurance.
Does anyone have any advice on prosthetics and pain levels after surgery.
My recovery after the mastectomy was slow and very painful but I guess this was mostly down to the tissue expander. Still it has left me feeling nervous about this time around. You also might be surprised to hear that I'll be staying in hospital for two weeks. I have read about people getting discharged same day after surgery in the UK.

I recommend these, they are very light and you can get ones for aqua exercise too. I prefer them to the heavy silicone. Good Luck x
