Hi, new to the group just needing to reach out. I had 14mm DCIS removed 7 weeks ago and had partial flap done at the same time in right breast. I’ve had an infection and had to have excess healing fluid drained twice, just started a second course of antibiotics today. I’m not in pain as such but feeling very uncomfortable - where my flap was done it’s like a large solid lump and the hardness is running underneath my boob, so it’s uncomfortable to lay on my right or left side, when I lean forward to say put my socks/shoes on it’s uncomfortable. And it’s a really different shape to my good side! My surgeon was confident it just needs to heal, but my consultant today took more fluid and wants to see me weekly and isn’t as happy as there is still fluid and infection building, redness and some change to my skin. He said it can be 6-12 months to heal. Now I’m worried my radiotherapy which is meant to be starting mid October will be delayed. Has anyone experienced anything like this, I’m not sure I can cope long term with this level of uncomfyness?
Hello Linzf3e9c6
I'm sorry you are experiencing the problems with your flap operation. I can't answer your question - although hopefully they can get the infection under control with strong antibiotics - but just in case any lady with experience is around now as your question has slipped to the second page (it's such a busy group!), by answering, I've bumped you back to the top of page 1
Kindest wishes, Lesley
