I am 76 years old and have arthritis and other health issues. I was diagnosed in January and I'm have a local wide excision, including my nipple of left breast, and removal of the sentinel nerves. I drive an automatic.
Is anyone in the group similar to me?
Other people have mentioned a heart pillow which seems would be essential to me, as the seat belt will cut across the wound. Where can I get one? I had a feeling that people who had breast surgery were exempt from wearing seat belt. Can anyone tell me?
Hi Storehouse, unfortunately you will not be exempt from wearing a seatbelt but I’ve looked online and Etsy do these heart pillows for people that have had breast surgery. They are about £10 plus postage.
I hope this helps and the very best of luck for tomorrow. Sending big hugs xx

Hi
hope op has gone well.. when I had my mastectomy, my breast care nurse gave me a lovely heart pillow ..they have volunteers that make them for them so maybe your hospital may have something similar … but yes you can get them online too x
beet of luck for the rest of your treatment x
My granddaughter has lent me a heart shaped cushion she had, freshly laundered by her mum. So far I'm feeling good and have little pain. I get my results in 2 weeks, so will know what further treatment I will need. Hope you are keeping well.
