Hello,
I've been having Zoledronic Acid infusions every 6 months. I've had 4 or the 6 infusions that were planned, but had to stop due to lots of problems to my mouth teeth and gums. I had two teeth extracted during the treatment and have to have another one extracted. I was referred to Consultant who was lovely but I was told there was very little that could be done other than monitor.
Has anyone had any successful treatment for Osteonecrosis? What was it you had done? Was it successful? Was it costly?
Any help would be gratefully received
Thank you
Hello Milmol
I'm unable to read your reply it doesn't contain any information?
Hello Cloudier Thank you. Its a rare side effect and other than in the US I cant really find any treatments . It looks like I have Osteonecrosis in two sections of my jaw
Hiya, I am having annual infusions of Zolendronic Acid, osteonecrosis is something we all dread. Could you ask for a second opinion or see a specialist dentist? Hopefully someone will come along on here who can be more helpful. Do let us know how you get on x
Wondered how you were doing BronteMaggs, did you get a resolution ?
Thank you Chocolate Chip that's very kind of you. I'm OK had another tooth extracted in hospital the Consultant is monitoring at the moment and if the bone which is currently protruding breaks through the gum I need to contact them. I'm seeing a cosmetic dentist on 2 December to see if anything can be done to help with the appearance of my front teeth without any stress being put on the Jaw bone hopefully they can help and I wont have to rob a bank to pay for the treatment.
What a nightmare for you, thank goodness you are getting treatment, and fingers crossed...you won't need to 'Rob a bank' . Teeth - especially at the front , are such a big part of your confidence and ability to enjoy life - If you struggle to eat normally.
I was interested as I worry constantly about my teeth having had lots of cosmetic work done before I ever had cancer/ osteoporosis, having had problems for years, I would hate the teeth I have to be undermined by the treatment.
Let me know how you get on in Dec...if you have time of course. Good luck !
Will do. You are absolutely right about confidence mine has been knocked I feel very conscience of the condition of my teeth. I hope I can get it sorted. Thank you
