Hi, I had a lumpectomy in October and this was followed up with radiotherapy in December/January, plus hormone therapy.
Recently I have noticed tightness and pain on stretching my arm up, it’s in my underarm which I’ve been told is cording. I’ve also noticed a lump which seems to be on the main cord and a few days later a couple more small lumps have appeared in the same area.
I saw my breast care nurse and she referred me to physio for the cording and wasn’t quite sure about the lumps and thought they were lymph nodes, but decided to ask a radiologist to look at the lumps just to make sure. She in turn said the best thing would be to have a scan, which I’m waiting for.
I wondered if anyone else has had the same thing happen to them.
Thanks.
Hi Celie, whilst I didn’t have cording, I did have a little lump appear along my scar line. I had this checked by a scan and was told it was a fat narcosis. It’s still there and I was told to keep an eye on it. Hopefully at some stage it will disappear but they did say it could take a long time.
Fingers crossed yours are the same, but so get it checked.

Hi Cuffcake,
thanks for your reply. It helps to know at least one other person has had something similar happen to them.
Hopefully nothing to worry about. I’ll be getting a scan soon and I’ll get to know for sure then,
Hugs back xxxx
Hi, 2 years on from surgery and I noticed a different lump around the scar line. I had a scan to check and it was confirmed as scar tissue. Always good to check it out. Best wishes
Hi, thank you for replying. It’s good to know other people’s experiences.
My lump isn’t on the scar, it’s on and around the cording under my arm.
I'm expecting a scan soon so I’ll know then.
All the best.
Hi Celie, I cannot comment on the lumps as I didn’t have them. This may occur when I have another op to remove my auxilary lymph nodes after Chemo.
I found an exercise online that worked for me in 2 days. I had been referred to Physio but cancelled this as no longer needed it and it will have created an appt for someone else.
The exercise is:
Raise the affected arm out to the side, parallel to your shoulder with your inner arm facing away from you.
Bend your wrist backwards (opposite to the natural way) Hold for a few seconds. You will feel the pull. Straighten your hand.
Bend your elbow, bringing your hand towards your shoulder. Now wave This releases the tension caused.
Give it a go. I advised another forum user with this exercise and it worked for her too.
Let me know if you try this and whether it helped.
Massive hugs xx

Hi, Alfie,
Thank you for your reply.
It’s nice of you to share! I’ve tried the exercise but there is no pull. It isn’t stretching the part where I have the cording, maybe we have it in different places to each other. It shouldn’t be too long a wait for the physio anyway and it isn’t too severe just now, I want to make sure it doesn’t get any worse.
Wishing you luck with your op. X
