Hi
I had lumpectomy 15 days ago but still have no idea of stage
Been to the hospital today been hope I explain this ok
The lump was bigger then they thought it was 60mm (6cm) it was situ which means it doesn’t spread
But 15mm (1.5cm) was invasive which means it can spread
They got all out
When take lump out they also take a margin (like a safety net) of 1mm. They test this.
Due to the lump being bigger it went into the margin by 0.2mm so I am going in on Tuesday to have an op so they shave (cut) some tissue away to make the safety net what it needs to be
Lymph nodes are clear
They are doing a DX Test
No treatment plan yet x
Hi Virgo , sounds like they’re being very thorough so I’m guessing you may not be told the stage until after the shave and results of the DX test (I don’t know what that is so can’t comment, I didn’t have that test). In my case, I was never verbally told what stage I was and didn’t find out till I saw it on the letter from the oncologist to my GP. It stated Stage 1. I think if you just have in situ carcinoma then it’s Stage 0, but I’m not a medic. With invasive I think it’s always at least Stage 1. There’s a section on this site about staging and grading, I’ll see if I can post a link. I knew after my biopsy results that it was Grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma.
Good luck with your surgery on Tuesday, I’ve seen many posts here saying that it was ‘better’ than the initial lumpectomy. Hopefully after that’s done you’ll soon have an oncology appointment to discuss your treatment plan. Horrible limbo stage where you’re not sure what’s coming next. Love and hugs, HFxx
Hope this is the link…. Xx
Thank you so much for replying and sending a reply very much appreciated
The invasive was less the 2cm so I would think its Stage 1 or 2 due to size and no lymph nodes
The DX is to get a percentage of likeliness cancer will comeback and if chemo would benefit so if low figures come back don’t need chemo
I spoke to my nurse today she said by cancer was T1 as it was less then 2cm
