I'm 6 months post chemo and my hair is now just long enough to do something with. I hate it after I've just washed it as it becomes fluffy and curly/wavy, but I've found I can make it a bit more stylish by using my standard size straighteners to get a spiky effect. I just wondered if it might be easier with smaller straighteners (with ceramic plates less than 254mm wide)? Have any of you experience of using mini straighteners on very short hair and are there any particular ones I should go for? Thanks x
Hi, I’m also 6 moths post chemo and I had my first hairdresser appointment last Friday and had my hair coloured. Didn’t need a hair cut. I also have the chemo curls and at one side fuzzy hair. My hair dresser used thin straighteners. I’m not going to buy any as in a couple of months my hair will be long enough to use my own, but they did a good job. I’ve been using a hair mask to condition my hair and a hair oil on the frizzy bits. I’m just so pleased to no longer look like a cancer patient and have some hair that is not grey.
Hi Shade, thanks for the quick reply! It must feel great to have that first trip to the hairdresser and lose that cancer patient look. I'm still grey but currently undecided as to whether to colour it. I suppose it is ageing (and I am 60) but not so bad when I have the spiky look rather than the old lady perm, a bit like the late queen. My hair does grow quickly so it would need re-doing frequently and I don't know whether I can be bothered with the faff. I think I might see how it goes for now as it gets a bit longer.
