Hello everyone - I’m about to have a follow up with an advanced nurse practitioner.
2.5 years since diagnosis and one year since radiotherapy finished. Had mammogram on remaining breast 8 months ago
Anyone had one of these checks and do you know what they involve?
Thanks
Trentender
Hello all,
Just had my check up.
Lovely Advanced Nurse Practitioner gave me a thorough exam - all ok.
See Onco in 6 months, then should just be annual breast clinic check and mammogram on spare side.
Thanks for your support

Have you a breast care nurse - sounds a bit odd, but what do I know?
might be worth a quick call. Maybe you didn’t need radiotherapy- not everyone does.

Thank you for your reply. I don't have a breast care nurse anymore. I did try to ask my GP but he had nothing to suggest. I could possibly write to my consultant but not sure what I would do if he didn't respond. At a time when waiting lists are so long it seems like self indulgent neurosis. Prior to cancer I pretty much thought I was invincible. I put my initial biopsy off to go to Scotland, I was so certain I had nothing. And wasn't bothered about the 2 month wait for chemo to start. A different person now!
Lots of love and luck to you.
Daisy53 I had my last phone consultation in spring 2021 and my final Herceptin injection in I think Feb 2021. I started with chemo in Sept 2019, had a double mastectomy in July 2020 (delayed from March), began letrozole in August 2020. I was both her2+ and hormone +. To be fair the covid pandemic disrupted the continuity of my treatment and face-to-face consultations. I also think at the end you feel so relieved to be through it all you don't ask questions, just thank your lucky stars. Thank you for your concern. I am lucky. I have not reacted that well to the aromatase inhibitor drugs and that gets me down. I also have had 4 people all close to me die of cancer during this time, 2 from breast cancer. I will snap out of it soon.
I am glad that your scare got positively resolved xxx
