Hi all - I’m had a lumpectomy and lymph node removal 11 days ago.. all healing well but the raw nerves sensation under my armpit, behind and down my arm is driving me nuts.
Like little zinging electric shocks. Feels like my skin has been peeled off… and then randomly it all settles… before it starts up again.
im not keen on continuously taking paracetomol & ibuprofen. Any tips on what’s best? Heat, cold? What worked for you?
Hi. I’ve had exactly the same! 3 weeks on and it still very sore in my arm pit and down the back of my arm. I think because it’s nerve pain paracetamol and iboprofen don’t touch it. I did start my own discussion on here somewhere and several people had the same so I think it’s normal. Some were prescribed Gabapentin I think which helped. Because it’s been over Christmas I’ve just got on with it but I’m really fed up with it now. I do hope it improves for you. I’ve got my follow up on the 8th January so hoping that the results are good - the waiting is awful x
Thank you for responding.its frustrating isn’t it. I’ve tried wearing lose fitting clothes or snug clothes - what works one minute doesn’t work another… I feel like a piece of fruit that has been peeled.
I haven’t got my follow up date yet. The surgeon said it would be mid January and they would contact me and get me in..
I feel sick thinking about how that may play out. I’m sure you feel the same…
let’s cross everything for each other x

Thank you Ronnie. Glad yours is settling. That gives me a bit of hope. I’m only 11 days in so I guess I just have to be patient! Def not my striong point but since my diagnosis,I’ve realised I have to get used to waiting! X

Hi
carry on with the paracetamol and nurofen when I had my mastectomy and lymph removal l thought I would be on tablets for a long time but it was only for a few months. I did do my stretches and also done a gentle massage on my arm. Into the armpit and across my chest it helped . I also put a cushion under my arm to elevate it that also helped. Early days for you yet . Take care it will get better.
