Did anyone else feel like they are aging so quickly on chemo?

Im 47 and my periods stopped on docetaxal and I’ll be doing hormone therapy and it appears like my head hair is growing back gray… I did have some gray … my eyelashes and eyebrows thinned … I don’t do makeup and I don’t color my hair and it upsets me to think I might start to do both those things if my eye-hair doesn’t come back or my hair is too grey …

did anyone go into menopause immediately with docetaxal and tamoxifen where after 6 months you were switched to the aramatose therapy?

  • I will def mention this at my next oncology appt then. There’s been no mention of checking my hormone levels or changing which drugs I’m on!

  • Hi Cuffcake,

Hope you've had a good Christmas. I was also wondering about switch to letrozole. I have been on duloxetine for 18months (pre cancer) and it has a negative interaction with tamoxifen. Tried switching with horrendous results, so back on duloxetine which suits me. However, I think I'll have to go straight onto letrozole because of this. Can I ask what your doctor said about switching too early? I am just waiting for my endocrine blood test results. Start Kadcyla on 5th Jan.

    Much love

  • Hi LKM, thank yes had a good Christmas, hope you did too. from my talk with him I got the impression changing too soon (before the 2 years) would not be beneficial for me plus I’m not post menopause yet either and letrozole is not recommended for pre menopause as I think you have to have other treatments to suppress the ovaries. I believe having tamoxifen first and then switching helps give better protection of reoccurrence too in the case of pre menopause.
    Wishing you all the best
