Did anyone else feel like they are aging so quickly on chemo?
Im 47 and my periods stopped on docetaxal and I’ll be doing hormone therapy and it appears like my head hair is growing back gray… I did have some gray … my eyelashes and eyebrows thinned … I don’t do makeup and I don’t color my hair and it upsets me to think I might start to do both those things if my eye-hair doesn’t come back or my hair is too grey …
did anyone go into menopause immediately with docetaxal and tamoxifen where after 6 months you were switched to the aramatose therapy?
Hi iman my head hair grew back grey initially but then the new roots came back my natural colour. I’m now 9 months post chemo & I just have the few greys that I had before but still don’t dye it! My eyelashes & brows fell out completely but have since come back to how they were before, I did use uk lash serum to help them on their way!
i am on tamoxifen & haven’t had a period since last October & getting all the menopause symptoms now which is not a lot of fun! I’m 44 so wasn’t expecting to go through this for some time but this is the price we pay to give us a brighter future!
Hi Iman, I stopped having periods after my 1st cycle of EC, I then had Docetaxel. So since last December 2022 I haven’t had a period. I’ve been on tamoxifen since May and even with the break between chemo and starting tamoxifen I didn’t have a period. I have hot flushes. It’s a pain but I’d rather that than cancer!
I lost most of my hair and yes it’s grown back with grey highlights but I did have some grey before. I completely lost my eyelashes and eyebrows but both have grown back. I used hair serum and serum for lashes and brows too which I’m sure have helped. Whilst the side effects of the treatment was yuk I’d still rather those than cancer. I do have to push myself sometimes but I have a wonderful family who have helped me through it all and I’m very grateful to them.
Wishing you all the best

Okay that is reassuring , so the gray hair will start to grow out brown again…and eyelashes eyebrows grew back …
So if you have not had a period in a year , that means you are menopausal, so shouldn’t your doctors have switched your hormone treatment from tamoxifen to letrazole or something?
Yes! Fingers crossed for you. Oh and the periods stopping can be temporary during chemo but like cuffcake, as I went onto tamoxifen not long after I finished, mine never came back. Good luck with the rest of your treatment!
Yes he will switch me once I have definitely gone through the menopause. He will sort out boood tests to see how low my hormones are and will switch once he is certain I’m in menopause as if he switches me too soon it won’t be beneficial
iman and cuffcake2000 that’s really interesting as I was told I’d stay on tamoxifen for 5 years! There’s been no mention of switching at all!
Yes originally I was told 5 years too but he did mention switching me sooner if my levels were low and it was the right time to switch
