Bras after lumpectomy op

I've been advised that a front fastening bra would be best post lumpy op, for ease of putting on, although I'm lucky enough to have help with bras etc.

Where do I get one from?   Which one do I go for?

I'm not a very large lady in that dept, but have continuous problems with ill-fitting bras, always have done.   Everything rides up and cuts under my boobs and I spend my days pulling them down and 'fiddling'.  I even find this with sports bras.

After my op, I need to feel comfortable, but haven't got a clue what to do or go for.

  • go to M&S or johnlewis they can help you find one, and you get tax relief, i bought a sports bra zip up, which was great from M&S

  • Hello. I bought one from m&s but nurse at the hospital told me it was to firm. I'm 2weeks post surgery. Lady in m&s fitted it for me xx

  • i found the sports bra most comfortable, and hmm bad customer service. tbh i didnt ask for help myself , but found the mastectomy bras uncomfortable because the insert area was close to scar.

  • I got non wired bras not mastectomy bras and they have been so comfy. Got from Asda curvissa m and s

  • I bought a few from M&S and a size larger as advised but am finding them uncomfortable and too tight. My boob is so very swollen after surgery on Tuesday, Good thing I’m seeing the nurses tomorrow as I’m quite worried something isn’t right.

  • my boob was swollen for months , and ached for three weeks after first surgery it was very swollen. this is why the sports bra was good , lemme see if i can find it is like this but the back straps arent crossed, hate it when they change things

i found it quite comfy but sometimes just put on a crop top type bra to keep them up but not bound, as it gets uncomfy with pressure,

  • Hi Restorergirl, I went through dozens of bras until I found Macom.

They worked really well for me and I found them comfortable.
After about 2 months I moved onto a normal soft bra which I got from M&S. They measured me and I got a well suited bra. Most of the time I used to find bras didn’t fit well but then realised I had been not using the correct size.
    Wishing you all the best

  • Hi  , lots of great suggestions already, I got Royce front opening (poppers not zip) bras and found them soft and comfy. I’m a 36b but was advised to go up to 38b which seemed to work well for me. Good luck with it all, love and hugs, HFxx

  • My daughter works for bravissimo and I always thought they were for the bigger ladies x however there not! All staff are highly trained and I purchased a sports bra and post surgical bra which I still wear. So comfortable and you can also get adjustable bras when swelling reduces. My operation was September and I still don’t wear wire bras, I’m not just saying this as my daughter works there, but if you want a well fitted bra, and one you forget your wearing as so comfy, I would highly recommend Bravissimo x x x
