Pico (negative pressure wound therapy system) dressing

I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  I had a Pico dressing on and I found it ok.  I didn't notice any humming sound expect when the battery ran out.  The only downside to it was having to take the battery off when I had a shower.

My daughter in law had a pico dressing on her caesarean scar. I don’t recall any noise and it certainly didn’t bother her. It had a light which told her it was working and she had a couple of brief panics when she didn’t think it was working. She had to remove the battery to shower. Her wound healed fantastically well, scar barely visible.

I had pico dressing with no problems other than if lied flat it could bleep as disturbed positioning of dressing. Definately beneficial as it stopped seroma building up. When I had further surgery I didnt have pico dressing and fluid built up so had to go for a lot to be drained off. Good luck pico is not anything to worry about it is beneficial to you

I had a Pico dressing for my mastectomy .. it was fine and I had no problems with healing. I only had it for one week in the end as the wound was looking ok. The hospital gave me a bag to put the battery pack in which was handy. It honestly was easy and much better than having a drain etc.  Wishing you all the best. X

I had a therapeutic mammoplasty in April this year. I had a pico dressing and didn't notice any humming (it could have been so insignificant that I have forgotten it of course).

They are so good for healing and very beneficial. They do have a small light on the battery, and they do buzz if you disconnect them for a shower or accidentally do it, thats a good thing. . 

I was given a lovely small cotton bag with long straps, made by the local wi group to hold the drain and battery in. That was essential. Also a small heart shaped pillow that you could put under your arm for comfort. I didn't use it as I had axillary clearance. A v-pillow was a massive help as I don't normally sleep on my back,
