I've been advised that a front fastening bra would be best post lumpy op, for ease of putting on, although I'm lucky enough to have help with bras etc.
Where do I get one from? Which one do I go for?
I'm not a very large lady in that dept, but have continuous problems with ill-fitting bras, always have done. Everything rides up and cuts under my boobs and I spend my days pulling them down and 'fiddling'. I even find this with sports bras.
After my op, I need to feel comfortable, but haven't got a clue what to do or go for.
Hello Restorergirl, First thing is I wish you the best on your upcoming lumpectomy. I had one done on each of my small breasts within a few months as had issues in both. I was somewhat apprehensive but after the first one which was a very easy recovery I was relieved. I think because I am small breasted it may have been easier. I did not wear a bra after surgery as Surgeon never brought it up that I needed to wear one. I am only a 34A and I always had issues with bras fitting right too so never a fan. I think if someone is used to wearing a bra and they are larger breasted the front closure makes sense.
I do have a few camisoles that have built in soft bras that I could have worn but for me personally my little breasts were fine hanging out. Modal is a nice fabric for a bra as very soft.
I did finally find a brand of bra that did fit me called pepper.com but not available across the pond. I always had a bra that I could never fill out at the top but no more. Always trying to adjust it as you said and never getting it right. There are bras out there for us smaller gals and if you google it you will find some. Can do that when you are ready after healing up.
I wish you the best and I know you will get some great answers to your question but I went braless and all went well.

TBH, I like the idea of going bra less for a bit. I'm going to M&S tomorrow, I'll have a chat and a good look round there. Good excuse for a 14 mile trip out!
Hi, I had a lumpectomy in February followed up with a total node clearance 17 days later. I discovered a sports type bra from M@S which cost £22. After the node clearance I couldn’t lift my arm and could apply this garment by putting the bra via my legs and pulling it up. I’ve found this bra very comfortable and now only wear this style of bra.
Good luck - Make sure you get the vat deducted if you buy any surgery bras as these are vat exempt x
Thank you, thank you. Tried to get to Shrewsbury town via park and ride, but the 20 minute bus didn't arrive and bursting for the loo, I gave up and went to Tescos instead for normal shopping. Kind of a waste of 28 miles but had a change of food shopping venue! Hey ho! Zumba tomorrow morning always cheers me up.
Hi, at my treatment plan appointment, my breast nurse tootled me down to an office & fitted me with a zip front bra, much like a sports bra. I thought it was normal for these to be supplied. I only got one though so I bought a couple more which are ever so slightly bigger. I wasn’t aware of the VAT relief. Do you get it for other items too?
You get it on wigs as well as they count as medical equipment.
Oh and if you are getting wigs check if your hospital trust give grants towards them. Mine did
