I was diagnosed Grade 2 invasive ductal cancer,in June. Long waits for MRI and operation in September. Going for results next week after another months wait. Could I ask what is the usual time to wait for radiotherapy? Surely there is an optimum time for it to work? ( thats hoping results are good…).
Hi Leaps
i have been told there is a 16 week backlog for radiotherapy at my local hospital. I have my oncology appointment in a weeks time so will find out if it’s still the case. Hopefully the area you are in will not have such a long waiting list.

Hi Leaps you’re in the same position as me! Diagnosed June, operation September and results tomorrow. Hoping everything ok and only radiotherapy required, however, keeping open mind! If it is just riotherapy and there is a long wait, I will go back to work as days are so long waiting.
Hi all well I had my follow up yesterday and all lymph nodes and margins clear, Remains grade 2 stage 1. They have advised radiotherapy and said oncologist appointment should be around 2 weeks, then CT scan and hopefully radiotherapy to start December. I was delighted yesterday with the news and then today feel for others who need further surgery and chemotherapy, and feel low today. I had to put something in here as it feels like a very close family, and the only place where you can really speak out without worrying or hurting family and friends xxx
well my results were good as lymph ok but bad as they didn't take enough margin. Another operation in a months time. Am feeling quite low , but guilty in that I know people are much wonder off thanyself. The scans , MRI, needles under X-ray just aren't as detailed as I would love them to be are they?
and perhaps a more drastic surgery is safest....?
I was diagnosed with breast cancer 23 January. 6 months of chemotherapy and double mastectomy and ovaries and tubes removed. Why wasn't I given radiotherapy. Just tamoxifen. Now 4 months I could have breast cancer again. Same breast and place. Wait results Monday 23rd.
It's the same cancer. Had double mastectomy reconstruction. Didn't take the cancer out. Back to square one.
