Diagnosed with breast cancer in May. I had a lumpectomy in June and feel ok. I had 20 lymph nodes and only one was positive with cancer cell. My surgeon was very happy with my surgery that he has removed a the tumor and the margin around the tumour was clear. Whilst I did have a discussion for chemo I have decided to have radiotherpathy only and hormone therapy for 7 years. Is anyone only have radiotherapy

Sending you all healing and. Positive vibes xx

  • Hi India

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May as well and at the moment the plan is that I'm only having radiotherapy and hormone therapy.

Wishing you the best of luck with radiotherapy.

    Best wishes

  • Hi India, I am stage 2 and had lumpectomy surgery on 2nd Aug.  I go back on 24th for results of Lymph Node Biopsy but my plan is just Radiotherapy and tablets for 5-10 years.

Obviously if the results of the lymph nodes don't come back as expected it may change.

Sounds like you are a couple of weeks ahead of me on the journey.

    Good luck with it all,

    xx

  • Hi Daisy, thanks for replying back. I was recommended chemo but my lumpectomy was taken out with a clear margin and I only one positive lymph note from 20.  I am refraining from chemo. The benefits were very low for me to have chemo. I know often only a very small women benefit from it. I know it's gruelling treatment but mine was caught early...

I'm still waiting for an appointment to discuss radiotherapy. Have you got an appointment yet.

    • Good luck with your results. My surgeon was brilliant and tbh he was the one that made me think hard abt chemo. Off course if my results put me in a high risk of reoccurance I wouldn't hesitate to have chemo but I feel confident with my decision. Unfortunately we can have the full wham of treatment but it can reoccur again, so it's a tough one. Hope your results are as good as can be. Best of luck. X
  • I haven't.  I have to have further surgery as there was cancer in the lymph node my surgeon took.
