  • It’s odd isn’t it, oh well I’m sure they know what cocktail will suit us, there do seem quite a lot of different chemo drugs. I can’t remember the other 2 drugs in the ‘mix’, I have my bloods being taken and another oncologist appt tomorrow will make sure I make a note of them this time!

  • Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow

Yes there definitely seems to be different chemotherapy drugs, in different orders, but absolutely they know what they are doing and they are doing there best for us.

Ask questions and hopefully understand more after your appointment x

  • Good luck to you too PDarlo.x

  • Hi Cazza25, have a word with your oncologist or BCN about the heartburn. I was given lansoprazole and it has worked brilliantly. It is hard to rest at times I too find I have a lot to do and then I have to make myself stop for a while in between. Yes walking is good and it’s great you have a dog to take. I have to take my sons, sometimes hubby comes with me.

  • Hi Amy123, I too had the same discussion with my oncologist and also the chemo pharmacist was involved too. There was a difference of opinion as to whether it was a good idea or not as its bacteria and like you said low immune system. If there was a problem with it I guess it could cause lots of problems. When your immune system is healthy your body can fight these things easily but when low it’s more difficult. I decided to opt on the side of caution and stop it until chemo was finished.
Did you check B.eastend ? Was your oncologist ok with live yoghurt and kefir?

  • I haven’t been given yet any information on diet and what to avoid, it’s on my list of questions for tomorrow. Is there a book or sheet you get given!? It wouldn’t have occurred to me that live yogurt would be a problem. So many things to think about!!

  • I've had the lanzoprazole prescribed as standard every cycle. Had heartburn when I eat bread so I am avoiding

  • I too read that. Also need to cook steak well and avoid cheeses like brie stilton etc. And also cook eggs well. But that's from research. Only thing I was told to definitely avoid by my nurses was grapefruit.

  • Hi B.eastend, thanks I’ll give that a try. Take care, big hugs xx
