Hi everyone, does anyone know where I could get some information on this type of breast cancer? It’s hard to find out much about it, although it is acknowledged that it exists on all the main reputable UK sites (including the Lobular Breast Cancer Charity). Really wish that I’d had a double mastectomy now, as I don’t trust mammogrammes. Is it two tumours jumbled into one, or two separate tumours? Mine was 34mm on MRI, mixed lobular and ductal. After chemo, there was no lobular, and 9mm residual ductal. I had a mastectomy. Realise this affects a small group of people, but any input would be welcomed!! Thank you
I had this ...mixed...can't tell you much other than it was successfully removed 3.1 cm via lumpectomy in December. Mine was right in fold of breast, almost directly under armpit, some of it extended into chest wall area. my last scan was cancer free so it can be treated all depending on your individual diagnosis. Mine was grade 2 stage 3 as had spread to armpit nodes.
Thank you Hel39. I knew about Liz, and by reading her blog, it would seem that she had a tough time with hers. I’ve got her book, and will see if she explains what being ‘mixed’ actually means. I guess that it doesn’t really matter that I should know, but I’m just curious. Thanks again
Hi @hev999. I’m glad to hear that your treatment was successful. Your grade and stage is the same as mine. Please may I ask, was your last scan a CT or mammogramme? Or even an MRI? I think upon the USA they offer the latter, but of course it’s all paid by insurance (I think).
Hiya! I'm another mixed one ;-) I had grade 2 invasive ductal cancer with lobular components and, when I had a lumpectomy, they discovered it was surrounded by DCIS. The total size of the combined tumour was roughly the size of a satsuma, but luckily my boobs were/is large so not too noticeable post-surgery.
I didn't have to have chemo but have just completed radiotherapy and am tamoxifen for the foreseeable.
Take care x
Hello, I think this link to the American Cancer Society can help to explain.
Hope this helps as knowledge is power. Breast Cancer has so many different facets and this forum has helped me so like to share.
Take care

Thank you so much Hopeful Barb. Your link is to DCIS, but by tapping the tabs at the top, I went into the invasive breast cancer site, and it goes into all the different types of breast cancers, and the path report terms.I’m sure others will find this useful too xx
