Hiya all just a query, iv had my 3 cycles of EC, and iv had 2 cycles of Docetaxel. However with the first dose around day 10, I had some scaring appear, I told the nurses when I attended for 2nd Docetaxel. They avoided the said vein and slowed down the flush at the end. Now I'm day 10 post second cycle and another vein is now has a scar, there is no irritation, it did ache a little but this has subsided. I just wondered if anyone else has had this?

  • Thank you, I'm hoping I can manage the last one. It took 3 nurses and 4 cannulas last time xx

  • Yes they said EC was worse on veins, I managed that ok, my veins just don't like the Docetaxel. I hope you get on ok with the rest of your treatment xxx

Hi Jane, my veins didn't handle chemo very well at all.  I had 3 X EC that was fine although they had to infuse very slowly. 3x Taxol killed my veins off, I got the track lines still there now 2 months after treatment, and they also collapsed and shrank. My right arm is so tight it can be painful to strengthen it. Local reaction to Taxol has left me with scars, the reactions always happened 10 days after infusion. I have been told my arm will improve its mobility with time, it isn't stopping me from doing anything, I don't have to take any pain killers but it is a constant reminder of treatment.

  • Awww bless you, thank you for answering my query, I know it's not nice that you have this still after your treatment has finished. I have the lines on my forearm to that hurt when I straighten  it out. You have put my mind at ease, when you said it was always 10 days after the treatment. I was beginning to wonder why the delayed reaction.

Well done on completing the chemo, iv just got the one more so I'm hoping on the home straight xx

That last session feels so good Grin I kind of felt a bit lost for a while.

Good luck for your last session and well done to you too.

  • Thank you, I'm sort of dreading it and excited because it's the last x

I felt exactly the same, really didn't want to do it, but thought yes this is the last one. Walking out felt so good, I called myself a Queen, make sure you do the same. Grin
