Hiya all just a query, iv had my 3 cycles of EC, and iv had 2 cycles of Docetaxel. However with the first dose around day 10, I had some scaring appear, I told the nurses when I attended for 2nd Docetaxel. They avoided the said vein and slowed down the flush at the end. Now I'm day 10 post second cycle and another vein is now has a scar, there is no irritation, it did ache a little but this has subsided. I just wondered if anyone else has had this?
Hi
i have managed to take all my infusions through cannula and yes there are one or two they don’t use now. I’ve got one super vein that only has 2 more infusions to go and can’t wait. It’s sometimes sore ie nippy or aches but then settles. They will soon let you know if there’s a problem. I remember they did say EC was horrible to veins and that’s when mine were worst
Hi Jane 63
I had this with my last chemo. The 5 previous ones I had canular in the back of my hand. For the last one I had the canular placed at the bottom of my thumb in the side of my wrist. After several days it was a bit bruised, swollen and marked . This was the only time it happened . I was a bit frightened of a pic line just didn't fancy it. Hope you get on ok x
Hi Jane63 I had EC x 6 I had thrombo phlebitis by second cycle . Onco requested a saline flush of veins after infusion which helped with discomfort . I would ask if you can have this it only takes about 10 mins .
Track lines in arm remained . I finished EC in Jan 2019. They were still able to use cannula in back of hand also have had infusions since every 6 month of bisphosphonate thru cannula .
The track lines are almost invisible now with no discomfort except when I need to get bloods done ..veins will not cooperate at all so back of hand is only place anyone can get blood
Hi Jane, I must admit this is my worry too. I’ve got my third EC this week and they use the same vein as mine are crap and my arm is getting to be quite painful it constantly feels bruised so I am going to mention it to the onco prior to next chemo. I’m wondering if a picc line line would be better placed before starting Docetaxel?
My veins are usually ok, I managed with the EC no problems, but the Docetaxel they don't like, iv only one more cycle. I hope you fair better than me xx
Thank you Margaret, iv only one more cycle of Docetaxel, so I'm hoping I can manage it. There's no problem at infusion time it seems to be 10 days later which is strange.
They did the saline flush slower last time. X
