Hi

can anyone tell me if they have been diagnosed with two different areas of cancer in one breast. I’ve looked this up stupidly and the outcome is not as good as one area.
im feeling so lost

  • Hi

I received my breast cancer diagnosis on Monday. I have a small lump close to an area of DCIS.

I have my surgery to remove both areas by lumpectomy at the same time on 29 April. Do you have a date for your surgery yet?

I haven't been told that the outcome is poorer because I have two areas although, admittedly, I didn't think to ask my consultant.

Try to stay away from google because inevitably you'll read things that will make you worry more rather than less.

    Sending you a big ((((hug)))

  • Hi Army,

I had two tumours in one breast - both different cancers but apparently probably related to each other.  I had chemotherapy and am now just starting radiotherapy.
In my opinion, it makes no difference to one or two but as to what the spread is. ie lymph nodes etc

I had one lymph node affected but quite a few taken out (different story)

it says on my consent forms ‘curable’ so I’m going with that!
    best wishes to you xx

  • Ah that is good news. I’m just so frightened it’s not curable.
I’ve no surgery date yet as not had results but told that it didn’t look good by radiographer x

  • Thanks Latchbrook

I think dcis is diff to cancerous lumps. So your orognisus may be a lot better. Thankfully x

  • Try not to jump to conclusions about your prognosis , especially as you've said you haven't had a diagnosis yet. I have a friend who had a lump biopsied but it turned out to be benign. Hopefully yours will too.

  • Hi Army,

I have been diagnosed with 2 different cancers Paget’s of the nipple and extensive invasive breast cancer, either 1 or 2 cancers the treatment remains the same. They are confident that my breast cancers are curable with the course of treatment and surgery planned. If you feel the need to look on th3 internet please try to stick to reputable cancer sites as you may get mixed and untrue facts.
    Sending hugs xx

  • I know you are right. But the radiologist did say I don’t like what I see. When she performed my first biopsy she reiterated that she didn’t like what she was looking at. I was just gutted. When I asked us it in lymph. She said it looks all clear but it could travel. So I’m not expecting it to come back benign.
I have two areas of calcifications 4mm and 8mm about 2-4 cm apart.
I think it’s how she said it makes me think it’s worse than it might be Cry

  • I’m so sorry to hear that. It is frightening. Have you received your plan yet.  With yours being in nipple does that make it easier to have a full mastectomy.

  • I'm not up on all the terminology yet but I thought if it's described as 'an area of calcification' then that is what DCIS is. Or at least my area of calcification is DCIS. The only reason my lump was found was because it showed up on the enhanced mammogram when they were looking at the area of calcification. It can't be felt and was too small to be seen on the original mammogram.

  • I think DCIs is pre cancerous cells. But not totally sure.
