Hi

can anyone tell me if they have been diagnosed with two different areas of cancer in one breast. I’ve looked this up stupidly and the outcome is not as good as one area.
im feeling so lost

  • Yes, you are right that DCIS is pre-cancerous.

  • Hi Army,

I had two separate lumps, both invasive not DCIS.  I did ask and they said it didn’t make much difference to outcomes, when they do the predict test they use the size of the largest lump.  So while it may make a small difference on a population level, it certainly doesn’t mean it isn’t curable.

Google is very useful but at the same time can really fuel anxieties, remember not every study is well designed or repeatable, there’s a lot of misinformation out there.  Big hugs, try to stay positive.

  • Thank you so much for your reply. Thought I was alone in this. As a lot of cases are just one lump. I really need to stay as positive as possible until Monday when I’ll know better. I hope all is going well with you and your treatment. X

  • Thanks Army I had my first chemo nearly 3 weeks ago my next one is on Monday, unfortunately it’s the waiting that leaves you too long to think of all sorts, I was diagnosed early January so it’s took a while to get started on treatment due having to have different scans waiting for them results so they could decide the right course of treatment. Only 1 of the cancer is in the nipple the other is extensively through out the breast so a mastectomy is has to be to give them a better chance of removing it. So hold on in there keep yr self busy write a list of questions down that youd like answers to ready for your consultation. In the mean time every body on here are really lovely and will help with any questions you have. Xx

Fingers crossed for Monday take care hugs Dxx

  • Thank you so much D.
it means so much comfort hearing stories of hope

my body is constantly cold and shaking. So think I’m putting my body through shock and fear

hope when I know what I deal with I can be so much stronger.
just hoping that it’s treatable and a mastectomy to me is def what I would like. Hope all goes ok with your next chemo sessions. Your a bit further down that path.  So nearer to treating this.
    thank you xx A

  • Your welcome, in the mean time eat well stay as active as you can, you may have more tests to come before they give you a definitive plan also sometimes the plans change which can be upsetting so try and go with the flow, easier said than done I know. Monday will soon be here so enjoy the weekend A xx

  • It’s all SO hard, I totally understand how hard this is. Everyone seems to have a different situation, no two experiences at diagnosis stage seem to be similar.  I had one lump but a friend had two, her second one was only found during surgery so had a shock but only one surgery for both. The location, size and type all impact how extensive the surgery is. We have ended up having almost identical treatment so her second lump wasn’t of great concern. It’s hard to get the full picture until they get the lumps out so plans don’t change. Wishing you all the best for a good result. The feelings are all 100% normal in the rollercoaster of appointments. Big hugs xxx

  • Sorry, typo, I meant to say ‘plans DO change’ xxx

    • Thank you Kate. Glad you are both post op and on your way to recovery it certainly gives me hope that there is other people been through similar
      thank you x
