Anyone else suffering from bladder infections during and after breast cancer treatment ?
I am now on my third round of anti biotics since November .
Today I was given a week of Nitrofurantoin .
Previously I was given 3 day courses of Trimethoprim. Found the infection went but obviously just came back .
Hopefully this new AB and having a week of treatment will see the back of it .
Anyone else with a similar story ?
Penelope
What is the smell of you don’t mind me asking ?
Hi PenelopeJ57 I’ve had UTI plus kidney pain three times at 6monthly intervals today I’m off for scan it check for kidney stones .
Never had UTI before in my life . Finished chemo Dec 2019 first UTI approx 9months later . Treatment then was Herceptin and bisphosphonate infusion now only on bisphosphonate infusion . Like everyone else it doesn’t respond to usual AB last one I was on high dosage for three weeks .
hope you get sorted soon
Hi , I am new to the site and have just started a thread on this. I have had cystitis every month for the past year. In November I had 3 horrid bouts of it, 2 in December and now again already this year. Each bout lasts between 3 and 6 days. I must admit I am at my wits end with it. Over the counter powders for days plus 7 days of Nitrofurantion every month. I am on exemastane and it seems side effect could be side effect. I have had a few replies on my thread. Might help us both . thread is titled , Oestrogen based breast cancer and side effects from medication, mainly Cystitis.
Hi , sounds awful . I am on the AB you are on for the first time . Normally it’s been Trimethron . This time , I’m not sure if it’s the Nitrofuratin or just because I finished 3 weeks of RT three weeks ago but I feel completely wiped out and ache all over . It doesn’t say on the packet that aching is a side effect .
Im having my bone density scan tomorrow and seeing my oncologist next week . I plan to bring this up and see what she says .
Not really good at this so tell me what thread to use if it’s going to work better .
Penelope x
