Waiting for results

Hi there everyone, I’m new to this.

4 weeks ago after multiple biopsies taken in July I was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer, lobular and ductal. Subsequently I had a bone scan, CT and MRI which threw up a question over some lymph nodes. My consultant needed further information before deciding on a treatment plan so I had a further biopsy 2 weeks ago and then a PET CT scan a week ago.

I am getting increasingly worried as my results aren’t back yet, the waiting is excruciating. I know everything is being done….

Does it always take this long?

Thanks

  • Welcome. Sorry to say yes but it does depend on where you are and the hospital. The waiting game is not a nice game to play. I'm sure that they are doing all they can to digest the results before informing you. Do you have contact for a breast nurse? May be worth giving them a call to see if there are any unexpected delays (yes covid, bank hol, staff hols - all have an effect). Also they may be waiting for other results so that it is all discussed in one meeting. It is very hard not to try and overthink - try and distract yourself with things you enjoy. Good luck x

  • Hi Marj3

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It's not nice having to wait for results but once you get them and your medical team come up with a treatment plan things should speed up.

Wishing you the best of luck with your results when you get them and with your treatment.

    Best wishes

Thank you, I do have a no, will give them a call. I don’t know why I try not to bother them when that’s what they are there for! x
