Hi. I'm going to have a breast reduction op on both sides as I have cancer on one side. This was offered as I have very large boobs and it was felt that radiotherapy would work better if my boobs were smaller.

I'm really pleased with this treatment plan. However I can't find anything online about breast reduction surgery as a cancer treatment.  Any articles relate to lumpectomies, mastectomy or post op reconstruction.

I wondered if anyone on the forum has had the procedure I'm due to have? Thanks in anticipation

Oh I forgot about the scars I seams weird that I can forget . I followed my Breast care nurse advice and my scars look great and feel brilliant so glad you have no problems .  Have you had the results from op yet ?

That gives me confidence.  I'm a G and really hoping to go down to  a D. I'd read somewhere you can only go down 2 cup sizes. So that's reassuring that I may be able to go down further.  Hope your recovery is going well. I joke with friends that next year they can use my bras as hanging baskets!

  • Thank you, gad no results yet, when did you feel confident about having proper showers.  My BCN advised I can get it wet now to start getting some glue off, I don't soak it yet, I am 4 weeks post op at the minute. I have some waterproof dressings I can put on xx

    Hi Shaz52

I am not sure what your dressing where. I was very lucky I had Pico dressing removed one week after surgery I showered 48 hours after surgery ...not get soaked put back in  the shower.,as advised . 4 weeks bath  again as advised.  I think everyone journey is different but we all share the same take care

1st October- 7 weeks since diagnosis.  It's that long as they are doing both at same time so having 2 surgeons who both need to be available.  I've been in very good spirits but starting to worry that it may be spreading during the wait. X

  • No that's not long, what grade did they say it is. Xx
