My treatment started almost 2 years to the day and lasted 18 months. I completed all my treatment with determination and positivity. I have been 6 months now since my treatment finished but have still not been able to return to my work.

my treatment seems to have taken a real toll on my bones as every bone in my body aches 24/7 with my arms being the worse. I was diagnosed with a frozen left shoulder (that was the side of my cancer) but my right shoulder is even more painful with limited to no movement in this arm at all without extreme pain, even right down to my fingertips (I drop thing a lot now) and don’t have the strength to open bottles. My legs are weak and the soles of my feet hurt to walk on. I could’t tell you the last time I ever slept through a whole night.

I get anxious leaving the house if I’m away any more than a couple of hours. But to walk my dogs with my daughter. I’m nowhere near the person I was before cancer. I am 54 years old.

  • Hi , so sorry to hear that your treatment has taken such a toll on you. My journey is just starting so I am sorry that I cannot offer any real experience. What I wanted to say is that you may not be the person you were before cancer, but you are much more. You dealt with all the blows with determination, positivity and gusto and had the courage to reach out to the group. Be kind to yourself and allow yourself time, it may be worth talking to someone about what you are going through and what you have went through.

look after yourself xxx take each day one step at a time
