Hi everyone, so I’ve just had the news that after 3 rounds of EC my lump is actually growing, great!

has this happened to anyone else?

the plan was to switch to docetaxel after 4 cycles of Ec but now it looks like I’m switching in 2 weeks after just having chemo yesterday. Let’s pray this one works!

  • Hi , I have just had my first dose of EC, hoping it will work but my oncologist did say that there’s a chance that if we don’t see it shrink after 2nd round that we will change the chemo. Hoping that your new chemo will start shrinking your tumour. Will be praying fir you and sending positive thoughts xxx

  • I had EC then docetaxel to shrink my tumour and I did see a bit of shrinkage after the 3 EC but I just wanted to say that I got far more shrinkage with the docetaxel so hopefully the next one will work for you. Mine was hormone positive and they don't expect it to respond as well as other types.

  • Thank you

I hope everything goes well for you and you are not having too many side effects xx

  • Thanks  that gives me a lot of hope. Just annoying really that I’ve had 3 rounds of EC for nothing! Mine is HER 2+ so not sure what that means in terms of different chemo, my onocologist doesn’t explain too much and I’m so bad at asking questions, after bad news my mind just goes blank.

    xx

  • Mine was HER- but it was on my chest wall so they wanted to shrink it first - enough to get clear margins and for me to have a lumpectomy rather than mastectomy Pleased to say it shrunk enough for that in the end. I found docetaxel a bit tougher, but it was much harsher on the cancer too so worth it!

I'm still finding  the drugs confusing. I'm grade 3 triple negative and am having ec followed by taxol?

  • Hi I am tnbc grade 3 ec didn’t work for me either so started on taxol which didn’t work either.  Don’t despair if chemo doesn’t work there are still options they did surgery on me now I am due radio and oral chemo. Take a step at a time only think about what part of the journey you are at now looking forward into the what ifs are daunting

  • Thanks  for sharing, I’m so sorry both chemos didn’t work for you. I really think that if EC hasn’t worked there’s a very good chance the docetaxel won’t either but I guess I’ll have to wait and see. It’s nice to know there are other options. How are you coping? xx

  • The other thing the oncologist said sometimes the effects of chemo can be delayed so ec may have an effect. My

tour was 65mm on scans and on chemo but surgery it was 45mm so it had partially responded to chemo after being told it hadn’t.
I am coping well treatment is as most people say is doable, o carried on working riding and walking for miles throughout

I spoke to many other women whilst having chemo and many of them said first chemo not work but second did so I wish that for you

  • that makes me feel a lot better, thank you. I think a lot of the scans just give them a rough idea, from what I’ve read the sizes are often a lot different when they actually do surgery. I’m glad yours was smaller than they thought, that must have been a relief. This whole cancer thing really sucks! xx
