Hi everyone,
Hope you are all doing ok.
I had my radiotherapy planning session today and start my treatment on 15th July! I’m sure that will soon come around and it gives me time to work a bit more before then. Not decided about working once sessions have started. My appointments are 8.30am each day but as I work with preschool children it is hard to social distance and I don’t want to risk anything Covid related during treatment.
Are/have any of you worked during treatment and how did you find it?
Thank you
I worked throughout all treatment - chemo, surgery and radiotherapy, with just a few days off for chemo cycles and surgery. I worked full time throughout radiotherapy.
However, I work from home and have been completely isolated with low risk of getting covid. I was put on the shielding list when I started chemo and I'm not off it yet as they don't know how long it takes for your immune system to return to normal. I finished chemo in January and I am not taking any chances with covid. I am lucky that I can work from home and not see many people.
I think I would be tempted to take time off during radiotherapy if you work with pre-school children who might not show any symptoms
