Hi all finished pacitaxcel on Wednesday after 12 weeks so now I have to carry on with the remainder of my herceptin injections every 3weekly  and 1 week of radiotherapy that starts 21st July feels very weird not to have to go to the hospital every Tuesday for picc line clean and bloods. it's amazing how quickly you get used to doing the same thing every week but feel ok just a bit strange lost if that makes sense. Feel a bit tired today but I'm looking forward to hair growth my poor finger nails have taken a bashing but they will soon start to grow back I will miss the ladies that I've come to know well on the unit I will still see a couple of them when I go back as they have still got a way to go with their chemo but a couple of them only have 3 or more cycles to go .Wishing everyone good luck and love with their on going chemo treatment regards Belinda xx

  • Hi, today was my 9th session of Paclitaxel so 3 more to go, and herceptin every three weeks for one year. This is became part of life every week twice to hospital, unfortunately for herceptin i will need to go every three weeks for covid test day or two before then for herceptin, i asked nurse if i can have it at my GP they said no i have to come to hospital. I would like to ask you on Paclitaxel did you loose your hair ? Im using cold cap and still have around 60% of my hair so i think not so bad, i hope for last three weeks to not loose rest of it. Well done for finishing chemotherapy , are you going to see anyone and what its next step after chemo ? Any scan or xray how it works at the end ? X

  • Hi Annna

Yes I did lose my hair I did have the chance to use a cold cap but I'm a woos when it comes to cold on my head so I declined I lost my hair week 5 it was just coming out in clumps and it had big knots in it so I braved the shve I do hope you manage to keep as much of your hair as possible a few ladies in my unit kept most of theirs but it was thin I have a heart ultrasound to go this month still waiting on the appointment for that then next month I have a ct scan before my 1 week of radiotherapy then tablets for 5 possibly 10 years tamoxifen is what il be taking after radiotherapy for 5 years but not sure what il be on after that. as before all my treatment I was pre menopauseal I'm definitely in menopause now as I haven't had a period since March and I'm getting hot flushes oh the joys lol also after the treatment il be having yearly mammograms scans etc I'm sure that will happen throughout the 5 /10years plus oncology appointments I still have 14 3 weekly herceptin injections to go so I should finish the second week of Jan next year but I only have to go to the hospital on the day I have my injection as apose to the 2 days when I was having chemo as I had a picc line so bloods and clean was the day before but as I no longer have the picc line it's only once I'm sure I will adventually have another blood test so il have to go the day before but at the moment as I have had a blood test within the past 3 months I'm OK apparently? Hope the rest  of your treatment goes well regards Belinda xxx
