Here's a new thread for chemo discussions this June, as the existing threads were getting a little long.
Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.
Hi Ruby
Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time after your Docetaxel treatment.
You’ve got this even though it probably doesn’t feel like it at the moment.
Best wishes

Morning Ruby
managed to get some sleep last night today don’t feel as achy so hopefully that’s it past. Yes I had a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction latissimus dorsi (LD) flap in December . Scars have all healed great wasn’t in any real pain with it But the docetaxel made them all feel very tight as it attacks the nerve endings. Looks like a lovely day and I’ll get out this bed today and sit in the shade. Have you still to have surgery? Good luck with any more docetaxel you’ve to get.
take care

Hi Anne,
so glad you’ve had some sleep, I hope you manage a nice day and a bit of sunshine. Good that your surgery went well and you’ve healed well. I still have mine to come, hoping it might be a lumpectomy depending on the outcome of chemo, just have to wait and see.
Still feeling pretty awful today so I’m going to give the chemo nurses a call before the weekend. I just can’t seem to do anything to help myself feel better. My nose is streaming and my stomach is still really unhappy. I took Imodium last night which stopped things moving but I’m sore and feel so sick, even with the anti sickness meds. Pretty sure I have oral Thrush too, my mouth feels horrible. I think I’m probably dehydrated, so trying to drink.
I have two more rounds to go of Docetaxel, but honestly not sure I can do it.

Morning Ruby,
sorry to hear you’re not feeling good. I’m back to being achy today and my nose and mouth are very sore, aand my tummy isn’t great either. We sound very much in the same boat!
just going to soak in the bath (avoiding my nails being submerged!) to see if that takes the edge off and I’ve taken some pain killers too.
hope the chemo nurses can offer you some advice.

Hello everyone, I’m so sorry to read your not feeling well. I have all this to come as I am switching to docetaxel after 4 rounds of EC, I had already heard that it would be worse so if you have any tips I would love to hear them. I had my first dose of EC yesterday and I’m actually surprised at how well I’m feeling, do things kick in straight away or will I start feeling crappy in a day or 2?
also in reply to Xray1, I had the cold cap and it was really not bad at all, a little cold but not at all what I thought it would be (I didn’t even need the blanket they gave me and the air conditioning was on) the most annoying part for me was the chin strap. It does add on a lot of time but I will definitely use it again next time. I would say if you’re not sure then give it a try, you can always stop.
Hi Ruby
Sorry to hear that you are still feeling unwell. I know you feel unsure that you can do two more rounds of Docetaxel but I know you can. You are stronger than you think.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you that the chemo nurses can help you feel better soon.
Best wishes

Day 7 after 2nd FEC.
Last 2 days I've had terrible abdominal cramps. Didn't get this last time.
Ended up in bed at 3.30pm yesterday. Slept fitfully thru to 8.30 this morning. Feel so drained.
I've taken some laxido as I've not "been" properly for a few days.....
Temp went up last night to 36.8. Seems to have settled this morning at 36.5. A bit high for me but not high enough to worry.
Sarah.... Keep looking forward
Hi Anne and Daisy and CatCrazyR,
Thanks for lovely positive messages. Spoke to chemo nurses and just trying to settle my stomach and try to eat and drink. Here’s hoping things settle a bit. Reassured that everything that’s happening is normal, I just need to work on how to manage it better. I really hope round two is a bit better.
Pumpkinpie, I didn’t start to feel bad until around day four. Make sure you have Imodium / loperamide in and I think a Bluebell said earlier, take meds as soon as you need. I think I held off too long hoping things would resolve but it didn’t and got a bit tricky. I’m taking metaclopromide now in an effort to even things out. Pain killers and hot water bottles / heat pads for pain and just rest. It’s so hard when you don’t know how you’ll react and I just couldn’t seem to fix any issues. I hope it all goes well for you.
Sarah, I hope you feel better soon and the cramps ease.

I think I held off from the laxido for too long. I didn't feel any ill effects of the constipation until it hit really hard. Now I realise they gave me them for a reason. I just hope they start to work soon xx
Sarah.... Keep looking forward
