    Hi Lynne,

Yes, I have two wounds. My lump was right underneath my boob, and then the sentinel wound under my armpit. Still got a green mark from the dye too!!

It’s comforting to hear that you get stiff after sitting too - it was starting to worry me, so while I don’t wish it on anyone, I’m glad it’s not me. My knee joints seem to be suffering too, and yes, my leg aches have eased a bit but my body is still complaining! How are you feeling apart from aches, is the tamoxifen hard to cope with?

  • Hi Ruby, I wonder how they got my 2 lymph nodes with no wound under my arm...!  Anyone else had lymph nodes removed with no underarm wound?

My main problem is the achiness and the fatigue and I just don't know if the Tamoxifen is the main cause.  The hot flushes are annoying but not actually as bad as they were while I was on chemo.

If the achiness would ease I really wouldn't have any complaints!

Well, except that I still do not have a full covering of hair.  Brows and lashes are good though Blush

  • Hi Lynne, I had lymph node clearance alongside Smx. There is only one scar. Doesn't actually go under the arm at all but does curve through approx 90 degrees and go vertical on the arm side. So assume access the nodes internally from there.

My hair is growing back but only really fuzz at the moment. Eyebrows coming along very nicely although more grey than I would like. Eyelashes rather slow to recover so far.

Had my wound checked today. All well apparently. Need to keep taking paracetamol and ibuprofen regularly to combat pain. Could last 4/6 weeks I'm told. Should have a chance to check again when results should be in.

  • Hi lynne

I’ve got a scar in my armpit where they removed 3 lymph nodes. That one is the tightest of them all. The achiness is the worst SE my legs have certainly improved moved to my arms which are also getting better. Cold feet and numb toes the little ones and also chills at the end of the day. I have a good covering of hair eyelashes too but not one hair on my eyebrows I’ve ordered the rapid eyebrow serum I’ll let you know how I get on with it. Seem to get a lot of flushes at night I take my letrozole about 8pm thing the flushes might be that.

    take care

  • @Iblodwin, I was just wondering if maybe they can access the lymph nodes a different way during a mastectomy.  To be honest I don't notice much difference between the scar on the mastectomy and reconstruction side than the reduction scars on the left!  I think I took pain relief for 3/4 weeks after surgery. I managed with paracetamol.

What hair I have is at least 60% grey!!!  I had grey hairs before but probably about 10%!  I don't even think the colour would bother me if I could just have full cover....

Eyebrows and lashes are doing well.  I am thinking about getting HD brows done again but was advised to have bloods checked first so will have to speak to my GP.

I am taking Tamoxifen with my breakfast in the hope of not being woken with hot flushes.  I am taking Phenergan to try to help me sleep as well as pain relief.  I do manage without pain relief during the day and so far the aching hasn't stopped me from doing anything. I would rather stick with 20mg of Tamoxifen if I can so I'll give it the 3 months as per BCN and see if the aches ease any.

    Thanks Daisy!

My hair is pretty much totally grey with some proper white thrown in! Much lighter than it was before and my eyebrows are growing in lighter too. It’s tricky to readjust to everything really. I wonder if it will darken as the chemo leaves my system but right now I’m just glad to have some hair.

    Ruby xx

  • Hi all. Catching up on the thread my hair is most definitely greyer than it was and in some places almost white!   A bit Annie Lennox form years ago is the way that I look at it!

Regarding my scar my lymph nodes were removed from the same scar as my lump so it runs across my boob and turns slightly down to my pit! I have to say that the bit near my pit is still giving some discomfort eitght months post op!

Because I suffered some liver damage I have been warned off Paracetamol and now only take Aspirin if required but have also read good things about Aspiring treatment for cancer so happy to take that when required.

for all those post surgery and post Chemo and RT we can live again!

  • Good luck with your results .
i’m 2.5 weeks post chemo and the regrow that I have looks a lot greyer than before. It’s just stubble at the moment really but  Im grateful to have something! I have two neat scars, one in my armpit from the sentinel node biopsy and one boob scar from the lumpectomy. The armpit one has always been more painful . I couldn’t tuck anything under that arm to carry now although the op was at the start of April but it doesn’t hurt unless I touch it. I’m hoping there is still time for it to improve. RT starts next week so don’t know what that will do to it.  Hope everyone is doing ok today xx

  • Glad you're recovering well from surgery . Hope all goes well on Friday.

I'm still waiting for my PET scan results,  I think I'll be chasing them up soon.

Regarding lymph node scars, I had a bilateral mastectomy.  I have a scar from sentinel node removal on my left side but I haven't got the additional scars on  my right as my surgeon said she was able to remove from my mastectomy scar which is underneath my right breast.

    Hope everyone is ok

    Take care xx
