Hi I recently got the all clear from TNBC and now 7 weeks later they have found something on the liver & questioning the shoulder. Apparently it wasn’t clear on the PET scan so now waiting for MRI.

has anyone had anything similiar? Worried sick and too scared to tell my family.

many thanks all xx

  • Hi

I am sorry you are facing these developments and can understand how unnerving they are - I have been there.

I was diagnosed with what was thought to be early stage TNBC in Feb 22. I had a lumpectomy, no lymph node involvement but there was vascular invasion at the tumour site. I was about half way through adjuvant chemo when I had an emergency admission for infected diverticulitis. I had a CT scan to confirm that, and it found I had a probable secondary cancer deposit in my liver. A PET-CT and MRI confirmed the diagnosis. The cells had travelled via my bloodstream prior to lumpectomy.

I was lucky that my cancer was PD-L1 positive so I was able to be treated with the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab alongside more chemo. There were a few complications on the way, but essentially this plus an ablation procedure put me into remission and I remain in remission and not on treatment to this day.

My initial reaction had been one of domesday but it hasn’t turned out that way. If your situation does turn out to have the worst news, there are treatment options these days, particularly if your cancer is PD-L1 positive or has a gene defect they can target. Try to hold on tight until you know what you are facing.

  • Thank you for the reply. Just had a call for MRI tomorrow and will go from there.

Hope you continue to do well.
