Hi I had a lumpectomy and lymph node biopsy yesterday lunchtime.  I took the compression bandage off this evening.  My boob is very swollen is this normal? It doesn't hurt so much where the incisions are  its more on the other side where its swollen more. Is this normal? I guess with all the digging around there will be some swelling and bruising

  • Hi , it's great you've had your surgery and that bits over with.  Hopefully you are cancer free now - Grinning

A certain amount of swelling is normall but look out for signs of infection like pain, the skin being red and or warm/hot to the touch.

Do let your surgeon know just incase and unless they told you that you could take the compression bandage off I would check if it's ok that you did.

I didn't have a compression bandage but was told to wear a post surgery bra which I think acts like a compression bandage.  Can't remember if they said how long to wear it but it was comfortable so I wore it for months - still do.

Wishing you all the best x
