Hi I start Docetaxel and Carboplatin next week prior to surgery.  Has anyone use cryo gloves or socks to prevent neuropathy during treatment? Where did you get them/what brand and More importantly did it work!?

thanks

Hi Sebyc welcome to the forum.

I have never heard of either of these but thats not to say that one of the other lovely folks on here may know more about them and by my answering this will bump the post up to the top so people see it and hopefully reply to your query.

Good luck with it all and do come back and let us know if you decide to try them if they helped or not.

    Hi,

I used freezer picnic chillers for my hands, with gloves on to stop burn. For my feet I used the chiller system that is used for after care in surgery,my friend had had a hip op,wearing socks all worked fantastically, just spent the afternoon crocheting and can still walk miles with only the rare odd tingle.Great result.I can still feel the smallest bristle on my chin to pluck!! Lol

    Hope your treatment goes well

  • You can buy the socks which have 2 pads to freeze on each foot on Amazon.  I improvised and took a padded packed lunch bag with cool packs inside for my hands, though did start doing things by my 5th cycle. I think thay it helped though,  and my legs still feel tingly sometimes though my feet are generally ok (apart from the pain caused by letrozole.... that that's another discussion!). I also took the single use cool packs (I bought a box of them on Amazon), as sometimes things were delayed and the cool packs would start to thaw.  X
