I had my mri with contrast on Wednesday and on Monday I have the left axilla ultrasound and then Tuesday I’m back with the consultant. I’ve already had biopsy and cancer diagnosis. Are they likely to give me a treatment plan and date for surgery. I have invasive lobular cancer.

So stressed I’m having a bad day today breast cancer diagnosis has floored me!!Frowning2

Hi Honey1810, you should get your MRI results from the consultant along with any other parts of the jigsaw which are available and should have been discussed in the MDT meeting (with oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists  breast care nurses). This meeting helps form your plan going forward & is individual to you as each person’s results are different. Try to be prepared for some results to be delayed or need further work up as this isn’t uncommon.

My diagnosis was also ILC. I am an advanced practitioner radiographer specialising in breast imaging so it was a horrible shock to be diagnosed in one of my own clinics. A very unwelcome new perspective on my job!

I ended up having two surgeries as well as other treatments. My best advice is to trust the process and try to fill your time between treatments & waiting for results with nice things. There’s LOTS of waiting involved. If you can afford it I would highly recommend ’the complete guide to breast cancer’ by Trish Greenhalgh & Liz O’Riordan. It’s a really easy read but answers every question in a very clear way.

Good luck on your journey lovely, I hope all your results go your way.
love & hugs to you Heart

I’m just recovering from everything at home now (diagnosis Nov 20). If I had any other job I would probably be back at work if I’m honest. I feel well and would welcome the distraction from my own thoughts. Keep the faith... I could not have imagined feeling so much better now. There are massive ups & downs. I found going out for a walk everyday helpful even just around the block & do your arm exercises!!

You should be allocated a breast care nurse... they are amazing honestly, ask them anything Heart

It’s quite pricy but I really would recommend it xx

  • Yes I’m under the breast unit at Charing Cross and the care and breast nurses have been really good. You are definitely right about the walks every day it definitely helps and herbal teas. I thinkPray’m still in shock after diagnosis on 6th April. I’m hoping once I get a treatment plan and have surgery I will cope better. Thank you Pray so much for your kindness and great advice Cherry blossomHeart
