I have pr/er positive her2 negative and lymph node metastases. grade 2 invasive mammary carcinoma.

so getting a ct body scan on the 28th April and right side mastectomy and full node clearance on 7th May. followed by radiation, chemo then 10+ years of hormone treatment. I cannot have reconstruction for 1-2 years but to be honest I probably wont ask for reconstruction anyway.

happy they have a plan but waiting is driving me mad I just want to get started on treatment to get rid of this.

I would also prefer a double mastectomy but that wont happen.

I don't understand the diagnosis other than I have breast and node cancer on the right side.

just want to get it gone and quickly.

  • Hi , so sorry about your diagnosis.  The waiting in-between procedures and appointments is very stressful but you do seem to have most of your treatment plan in place at least.  The best think you can do is try and keep busy and distracted.

If you don't understand your diagnosis and want to you should contact your surgeon or breast care nurse.

I was pr and er positive too and was told this means that it's hormones that are feeding the cancer.  So the 10 year plus hormone treatment is likely to be tablets to block the cancer feeding on the hormones.  Which tablets you get given depend on whether you are pre or post menopausal.  I started a 5 year course of tamoxifen about a month ago.  Being hormone positive I think is the most common form of cancer and I think it's more easily treatable.  Do speak to your medical team who will be able to answer all your questions.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment.
