Hello everyone,
I'm Steph from the Community team, I hope you don't mind me posting here.
We've been asked to create a new thread for chemo discussions this April, as the existing threads were getting a little long.
Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.
Hi Mum49,
I don’t know about insurance but after my 2 EC chemos I felt a bit lightheaded leaving the hospital so definitely wouldn’t drive then.
Tiredness would probably be the main thing that would put me off in the following days, especially if it was a longer journey, but apart from that (or other side effects) I would feel fine. Obviously it’s probably better to check with your insurance though.

Hi Gwenniepennie,
Only you know yourself, your body and how it’s coping.
Having decisions to make regarding percentages and treatment options probably makes things even more difficult with the anxiety/stress it inevitably brings.
Hoping you have an easier time with your next steps.

Glad you found new thread, hope everyone else sees link!
I’ve got some tightness and achiness in my chest too, seem to be going constipation route but not as bad as on EC, a bit tired but so far SE manageable so pottered in garden for a bit.
To tag someone use the @ and their name and it should load up options for you to click on correct one which will tag them ( not sure if they to have notifications turned on for the thread) and it appears in green.

Hi
When I spoke to the chemo nurse prior to my first cycle he did discourage me to drive on the day of chemo as it would invalidate my insurance. I'm so glad I didn't drive as I do tend to feel spaced out immediately after
Take care xx
So I took your advise and went for a walk! Bloody knackered. Started at a snails pace and crawled back on my knees. (Joking). Will write more when I can breathe again!
Hi everyone. Finally joining in here after weeks of reading posts and never quite getting around to posting. Sorry to hear that some of you are having to contend with side effects and I hope they improve soon. I’m just over a week past my 3rd EC and not feeling too bad. Worst so far is the buzz followed by the “downer” of steroids and some fatigue but by and large, nothing major. I’ve also been having the one off injection (the one that does something to help your blood count, whatever it’s called) and seem to have been ok after that.
While I’m (kind of) looking forward to the milestone of being halfway through on 22nd April, I am apprehensive about the switch to Docetaxal for sessions 5-8. Part of me thinks I’ve got off lightly with EC and there might be worse to come. The other part of me tells me not to be so pessimistic!
Anyone else made the switch from EC to D (or T) recently who can share experience?

I’ve just switched from EC to Docetaxel on Wednesday. Don’t really feel any worse SE than I did on EC and don’t have nausea which is a big plus. Most of my SE lasted a little bit longer with each cycle of EC but largely manageable and still got a full good week after #3.
Only time will tell but so far just achiness, flushing from stronger steroids, fatigue and constipation though my mouth is a little more sore so using Caphosyl mouthwash which will hopefully help.
I was very apprehensive about the switch but they monitor you closely for reaction when giving it so I’d say just have no expectations and wait and see...day at a time

Oh, hope you didn’t over do it Gwenniepennie!
Just back from a walk myself.

Hi NBI,
Hope you’re feeling OK.
I had my first D (with T and P) on Thursday. No reaction when having it. Early days but no real joint pain so far, fingers crossed it stays that way.
Finished the increased dexamethasone yesterday so tired from about 2pm today. Just managed to drag myself out for a walk there though so not too bad.
Bowels OK. Was wondering what way it would go . Not such a great sleep last night so hoping for better tonight.
No nausea but then I didn’t get that with EC. All in all OK so far.
