Reading the advice on here I requested some R1 and R2 gels from my GP who duly ordered them for me.  I've just been told by the pharmacy that the manufacturer has withdrawn them. HAs anyone else been told this?

I had been using Aveeno cream to prep the skin bit had an allergic reaction to it.  Since the rash has gone after using some Eumovate I've just been using organic castor oil and pomegranate oil both excellent for healing.  Also found I had an infection when I went for RT planning so had Penicillin, which I had a reaction to which was then changed and also had a reaction to the new antibiotics.

Fingers crossed for the all clear to go ahead with RT planning today.

Good luck everyone with their treatment.

  • Hi

I bought the gels directly from the UK supplier last July, but when I checked a month or so ago they weren’t offering them anymore so I suspect your pharmacy is correct.  There are other good alternatives such as Aloe Vera gel kept in the fridge and moisturisers that don’t contain Sodium Lauryl Sulphate.  Your RT team will also be able to let you know what they recommend and also advise if what you’re intending to use will be ok.  They should be able to give you advice on deodorants as well.

Fingers crossed you get your go-ahead today!

  • Thanks Loffie,

I'll search for some Aloe Vera gel online.

  • That's a shame about the Aveeno cream, as that's what my team recommended and after finishing radiotherapy 3 weeks ago I have had minimal side effects. Throughout my treatment though I was told that there are various creams that can be prescribed if the skin starts to break down and I was given numbers to contact also, which I found really reassuring.

    Good luck with your treatment.

  •  All clear of infection so now RT planning can go ahead. I'm sure I'll find something that works.

    Thank you
