Hi,

I have just finished 3 cycles of EC and the side effects have really hit me this time. I was given different anti nausea (olanzapine for 3 nights, and now ondansatron and metoclopramide) and I feel totally wiped out (it took me 3 attempts to put a load of washing in!). I am dizzy, agitated and generally feel rubbish. Last night I nearly rang the hospital as I felt so awful, as if I was coming down with flu! But I have a normal temperature. Are these "normal" side effects? I think I just need some reassurance.

Thank you

Xx

  • Hi  welcome sorry you find yourself here but it's the best place to be to get support and answers . My story is on my profile if you want to read it .

I had EC x 6 the usual is 3 then change to another . For the first 3 I would be tired etc til about day ten then get stronger meaning I could plan to be more active for the last week . We are all different and then react differently to chemo . In the first week after chemo some days I only manage 300 steps but could build up by end of cycle to approx 8000 .

The trick is listen to your body if it's telling you leave the washing then leave it . I found EC vey cumulative So by cycle 4 SE were lasting longer and longer 5 & 6 were each delayed by a week so I could get over one before next lol.

I was offered the chance to change type of chemo but I'm stubborn and stuck with it .

If you are finding it too hard and your feeling rough temp or not tell your unit they can change mess .Your team will want you to keep as well as possible .

keep posting on here it does ...help lots of different threads to browse
