I felt it would be a good idea to have a thread for this which people can use to ask questions, especially about side effects.

  • I’m on anastrozole but have told the chemist not to give me the purple packets called Bristol as the knee pain was just horrendous.  I thought it was just pain coming into winter but when I went back to previous dispensed packages I found the pain was much less. It is important to note which brands may be giving you unwanted side effects.

  • Hi Daiquiri,I too had horrendous time re menopause, anyway, sounds like your initial sick feeling was same experience as me,I am fine with minimal side effects so happy enough,3mths on,so not expecting any surprises, happy days.lol

I started on accord and only have aches in ankles and wrists. Told my pharmacy only to give me accord and so far (touch wood) they’ve not let me down.

  • Again, appreciate the support of other members Blush

  • Hi

I'm due to have my prescription set up for issue next week. I'll be asking for Accord. I looked up the cost and it's one of the cheapest brands from a cost to the NHS perspective, so hopefully there won't be an issue if I give enough notice.

  • Sounds like you have had a similar experience. Oddly enough  the only trigger for a hot flush so far  is eating chocolate. A bit of a mixed blessing Blush

  • For me,hot flush might be brought on from wine, difficult to call as I came off HRT when diagnosed,at the mo I have one hot flush a night more or less, much better than before HRT with repeated flushes throughout the night, happy to be over that and suprised I am over it.

  • Red wine set off my hot flushes, and although they finished about 8 years ago, I still only drink white wine. For some weird reason I started getting hot flushes again about 18 months ago, no red wine in sight, I promise! So, after starting Anastrozole about 6 weeks ago, I was used to having them again, but I have to say they can be a nightmare. I was teaching  when I had my menopause and I could be seen running from the classroom into the cool air on many an occasion. At home, I used to strip off and stand in the garden starkers. Laughing

  • I used to have cold baths but did live in Oz at the time, got Aircon fitted which helped, even the floor ties were warm in the house, nightmare.Fortunatley mine were all night sweats, never had any during daytime, that still applies now,get them as soon as I lay down, very odd lol

Hello Bluestar, I have also just been told I have er+ positive.  I am waiting for my consultant appointment to discuss my mastectomy.  I am taking Letrozole until then, not sure if I will need chemotherapy but definitely will need radiotherapy.
