Stopping Herceptin after 6 months

I was diagnosed with stage 1 grade 2 BC last nov.
small 7mm Her2 and ER positive. I had a subsequent MRI which showed and indeterminate area around measuring 37mm

i started with 4 round AC chemo to see what effect the treatment had and if effective a lumpectomy may be in order.
as it happens the covid situation took hold at end of AC and doctors weren’t sure whether my treatment would be able to continue so recommended mastectomy. The histology from this revealed a 2.5. Mm tumour everything else clear and no node involvement.
Chemo was then able to resume and I had 4 cycles of paclitaxel combined with Herceptin. I finished the paclitaxel and last week had my halfway Herceptin treatment. The doctor has no suggested I stop herceptin saying 6 months as good as 12 and carry on with Letrozole tabs for 5 years.
I think I have been heavily over treated due to covid and I decision about original size of tumour.
The decision to stop Herceptin has now been left up to me and it’s a bit one.
Herceptin is the gold star treatment for Her2 cancers so it’s reassuring to be on it although my blood pressure is high now and they are concerned about cardiotoxiicity
Anyone else only had 6 months of Herceptin?

    Hi

There was a trial of 4,000 breast cancer patients for Herceptin named 'Persephone'   Which compared 6 months treatment vs 12 months for just this reason -  the trial ended around mid 2015 with a fairly high % of success (very little difference between the 2 options)

You can read the results clicking this Cancer Research UK Persephone link.

At the time lots ladies here were on the trial - So if you do a group search for 'Persephone' you should find quite a few messages about this.

Hope this is of some help getting your head around making a decision.

    Take Care, G n' J

Very interesting study. Thanks for posting the link.  Could have implications for me further down the line.
