Hi everyone, it’s been ages since I’ve been on and hope you are all doing well!

Just wanted to ask about prosthetic fitting. I’ve just found out it’s a private company doing mine in their own building and not the NHS. Just wondered if anyone had theirs done outwith hospital/NHS setting and what the procedure was? No idea what to expect at fitting.

Thanks in advance for any information. x

  • Hi Bramble

i had my prosthetic bra fitted within   the NHS   but it was a  private company

it was very straight forward   we talked about my usual bra size  and then  she showed me various   types and shapes of prosthesis  and then  i just  tried them on for size   she

i has a mastectomy bra  but  the fitter had a selection of them and i was allowed to pick one as a gift

it was all very professional and she gave good advice about bra types that would suit my larger size breasts

    hope it all goes well

  • Hi I was fitted at NHS hospital fitter had her own room bit like a shoe shop cept  boxes had boobs in Joy Other advice I was given was to wear a good fitting top white being best colour to show shape when wearing clothes .Not choose on look without clothes .

Been wearing Clarissa for just over a year now ......

One step at a time and ...Breathe !

  • Hello  and , thanks so much for the information. I was just concerned about privacy etc with it being in this companies premises. Have to call them to make an appointment so will do that tomorrow. Thanks again. x

  • Hi again!

I had my prosthesis fitting recently too, they've only just restarted up again in the hospital where am being treated.  The appointment was in a consultation room so very private- they've got to be.  The lady (from an outsourced company) had a selection of suitable bras (lucky as I'd bought an unsuitable, balcony style one...clueless!) to try on with the prosthesis' (prothesi??) it was over with very quickly but did have to wait as they didn't have my plastic boob in stock!  Picking it up when am next at the hospital.  Just in case the DIEP doesn't go ahead....

Good luck and hope you get on fine & your fitting.

    Sam X
