Hi, The last couple of weeks I’ve been getting shooting pains and discomfort in my breast, then the last couple of days I’ve noticed under my armpit I’m sore and it feels lumpy.

I didn’t know if anyone has had this after a lumpectomy,

I know I should call the clinic but I’m scared too, I’m still getting my head round having breast cancer as it is....

Thanks in advance

  • Hi I had lumpectomy Aug 19 and more surgery Feb 20 for better margins. Its all still tender and sore had 1st annual mammogram last week and they did examination as well the Consultant said it will improve and all was ok. I did speak to GP about it as well. I would always get worries checked out even though like u I am terrified

  • Good morning.....

is right. Never be afraid to mention your concerns to your GP or nurse. It is important to keep being checked .....but....if it's any reassurance, I had stabbing pains in my breast for about three years, not continuous but from  time to time, and occasionally still do. I mentioned this and at my annual mammogram and ultrasound the radiologist took particular care to investigate. He showed me the internal scar tissue from where the tumours were taken and explained that healing takes much longer than we tend to imagine. Everything has long healed externally. He was sure this was the cause of the pain and could not find anything else anyway. After that I just accepted the aches and also realised there were times when the scarring felt like a lump. My oncologist, with whom I was having my regular annual check up assured me it feels different to her and the next mammogram proved she was right.

I hope this helps with your worries but please do ask someone medical. It's their job to keep you checked over and the most dangerous thing and more frightening really, is that something actually goes undetected.

    Take care. Karen

    Hi,

Just a thought have you just had your flu injection? This can make your lymph glands come up as it works to build your immunity. And as has been said here internal healing goes on for up to 18 months after an op.The shooting pains could well be your nerves getting back together,my lumpectomy.has been doing that too.

Make sure to get checked out though, stay safe,

          Yvie
