Hi all,
I had my mri results yesterday and it turns out I have 3 tumours in my right breast not 1 so now totalling 5cm. The consultant now wants to do a mammoplasty which I’m terrified of I just want them off now I suffer with anxiety anyway but with 3 young children I don’t want them to see me going through this again.
after reading lots of thinks I want a skin sparing double mastectomy with instant reconstruction. My question to all you lovely people is will they do both? And also is instant reconstruction possible in this current pandemic?
I hope everyone is doing ok x x
Hi Ltommo88
I haven't much of an idea (as only had lumpectomy), but wanted to pop on and acknowledge your post and wish you all the very best for dealing with what you are facing and sorry that you are having to go through it.
From what I have read from other posts during covid, I've seen that immediate reconstruction seems to be more likely to be possible. I could be totally wrong, so I'm hoping by replying that others who DO know will see the post as it's moved higher up the list and any hopefully answer your question re a double reconstruction and the technicalities of doing this.
Kindest wishes,
Lesley
Thank you very much, for bumping my post and for your kind words
Did u have any cancer in the other breast? My other one is clear but I don’t want the anxiety to take over my life and I know it will.
thank you I kept hearing that it isn’t “essential” so wasn’t happening. With the mammoplasty he said my reconstruction may take up to two years
Hi, I have the brca1 gene hence the double mastectomy ( I already had a lumpectomy). The surgeon was keen for immediate reconstruction and that was his first choice. He did warn me that the subsequent 'tweaking' operations would be delayed due to covid and as they have not been performing these at the current time, there would be a long wait (2 years)!
X
