Hi,
I haven't been diagnosed.
Two days ago I noticed red blood spots had appeared across both breasts and in a cluster on my right breast.
I'd already been experiencing a bit of pain upon getting out of bed in the morning, and during the night, in my right breast and I'd had a sore armpit for a few days last week - although my armpit is fine now.
Upon lifting I could clearly see an indentation that I'd never noticed before.
At my GP examination she noted the red blood spots, the indentation, and she found a lump in my left breast but said she doesn't think it's anything to be concerned about.
I was happy at that, but my friend said I should get a second opinion. I'm just wondering if anyone else has asked for a second opinion before and had different results? I don't want to upset my GP.
I think that art the very least you should have a mammogram and/or ultrasound to investigate the lump further. I'd go back and if the doctor is resistant tell them it's affecting your mental health. Hopefully everything will be fine, but a few members have been down the route 'nothing to worry about' then been diagnosed weeks or months later. X
Hi, I agree I would go back to the gp and ask for a referral for a mammogram and ultrasound to investigate. I was in a similar situation and noticed an indentation in my breast in April and my GP told me not to worry about it but in June during a routine appointment with the nurse I got it checked again and was referred. It’s always better to get the reassurance that you need x
Hi , As the others have suggested You should go back to your GP and be referred to the breast clinic. They are the experts and do a very good job in my experience. But they can only do any necessary tests if you are referred. If your GP remains resistant to referring you (hopefully she won't be) ask to see another Gp for a second opinion. Keeping my fingers crossed that you get seen and referred. Sending hugs xx
definitely get yourself referred. It may be nothing sinister, but you do need proper investigation Good luck xx
Onwards and flatwards (don't do hills) and keep walking if you can!
Hello ,
Well done to your friend for suggesting this, I think she is correct, I would definitely suggest either going back to your doctors practice or due to covid phone and ask for a telephone appointment with your doctor. Explain that you are very concerned and so are your family (I think mentioning others are concerned will help push your doctor). Ask your Doctor if you can have the 2 week referral.
Not wanting to sound bad, doctors are 'GP's - General Practitioners' - at present you are guided by your doctors opinion; another doctor may have a different opinion..... in the bigger picture neither opinions matter, you need facts.
I couldn't feel a lump, I just randomly noticed a very small "indentation" ..... Thankfully, I had seen a post on Facebook about 'its not always a lump'!
Something in my gut told me I needed to get this checked out (I hardly ever go to the doctors, but, I knew with this I had to). Doctor said she thought it would be okay, but best to have it checked out. At the appointment the Doctors felt on and around the indentation and said they could feel a tiny lump inside, but thought it would be okay...... go in for mammogram (I'm guessing something is showing) as I am then having a fine needle punch biopsy. Waited half an hour to be called in and told 'it is x' and they would know more in a few days to a weeks time. ......
Please, for peace of mind you need to get this checked out, you do, the worry alone is not worth it - phone your doctors and say 'you want to be referred under the 2 week scheme'.
Don't worry about unsetting your doctor, I am sure you won't - I think..... once you are out the surgery - you are out of their mind so to speak, so unless you contact them they aren't going to think 'hmmm I wonder how 'x' is' ..... plus if your doctor is caring, s/he will refer you - so as not to upset you, if this makes sense.
Please ask for this - if only for peace of mind.
Sending love and hugs xx
