I have been hospitalised twice with sickness and dizziness and had to postpone 2 rounds of chemo giving it another go on new anti sickness tablets they are wanting to fit a syringe driver already have a pick line due to veins shutting down so I would have to carry this around and am looking to see if others have this the pros and cons ?
Oh you poor soul! That sounds awful. Are they giving you Aprepitant/Emend? As I believe that’s the best antinausea med around, but not cheap so they don’t offer it that often. I understand you take it an hour or so prior to chemo.
daughter had a syringe driver for pain and antisickness meds while in hospital after her donor transplant in a Transplant unit as they were short staffed and whenever she needed meds they were often busy with emergencies, so the driver was suggested as an alternative. It did help, but was only needed for about a week then she was ready for discharge.
incidentally the main ‘con’ was that one of the drugs caused a skin abscess which needed to be lanced and drained and needed District nurse visits to dress once home, but that was due to her white cell counts being at absolute zero, it wasn’t infected but was sore. It delayed her discharge for a good few days.
